John F. Cole

John Cole is a graduate of Harvard College and a long-time advocate for the preservation of historic New England houses. After serving for several years on the staff of S.P.N.E.A., now Historic New England, John headed up a team which inventoried the historic resources of Ipswich, MA generally considered to have the highest concentration of First Period houses in the nation, and developed comprehensive guidelines for the granting of exterior and interior protective covenants. Later he founded Shaker Workshops which produces high quality reproductions of Shaker furniture. He also established John F. Cole and Associates to market historic properties which later merged with American Landmarks. John is an acknowledged expert on 17th and 18th century houses. He and his wife Hope own the historic Peasley Garrison in the Rocks Village section of Haverhill, MA.
